Talking to "six-year-old me" was a popular meme I spotted on TikTok in 2021. Most content creators gave themselves advice from a grown-up perspective. Gidon was deported to a concentration camp at six years old. I know that using this meme would deliver a powerful message. This video was viewed 971K times, received 208K likes, 6,200 comments, 7,600 shares and 4,000 bookmarks.
This video could have been better. I used a filter that was too dark. But I did try something smart here - comparing the population of a modern-day American city to the numbers.
This viral video was viewed 377K times, and received 71K likes, 2,479 comments, 1,083 shares and 2,183 bookmarks. In this I portrayed Gidon as not just a Holocaust survivor but a human being who has lived a whole life and has had other challenges. This was one of the first times I harnessed hope and empowerment to his story. That he is a Holocaust survivor is almost incidental here. Yet there it is.
